Hello Céline,
1. Céline, you are a painter established in Eastern Township with your husband and your two children. For how long have you been living here, and why did you choose our village?
We moved here a year and a half ago from Montreal. We’ve always been thinking about having more space and a natural environment for our kids. The pandemic was what pushes us to make up our minds. My husband’s company allows him to permanently work from home. So we found this house, came for a visit and purchased it in less than a week! It’s been a wonderful time. Kids love their freedom and we love to practice our French with all the friendly people here.
2. Do you enjoy your daily life here? And as an artist, are you inspired by the landscapes of the area?
I've been living in the cities my entire life. God helped me take a leap of faith to move here with my family. The heavenly country scenery amazes me. This spring I realized a collection - Illuminate. Based on the sky views in this neighbourhood. Mixed with Acrylic, oil and gold leaves. And there will be a new collection realized in September. All inspired by how much peace I received. I wish to share it with my collectors.
3. When we visit your website (www.ce.gallery.com), we learn that you started painting in 2014. How did this calling appear and why did you choose to follow it?
I started painting when we were living in Singapore. That was the first of many countries we lived in before Canada. It started as wall decor for our new home. My husband encouraged me to continue to pursue this gift. It took a few years before I had the courage to leave my marketing job in luxury hotels to dive into painting.
Art is a tool that helps me grow in faith. It brought me from a job that fits the world's standards into a passion that shows my true value. When I choose to become an artist is when I finally decided to accept who I am.
4. On your Instagram page (@ce.galleryofficial), followed by more than 13k persons, you define yourself as a Chirstian artist. Does it influence your work?
All my works are dedicated to God. As a homeschool mother of two young children, and a student in French class. I have very limited time to create. Sometimes it frustrates me. I went through times of self-doubt and quitting. However, every time when I asked myself why I started in the first place, is because I want to share his love and peace with people. To bring him glory. Not to bring glory to me.
This brought me great relief. Since I am not doing this for myself. I can feel blessed with this talent and every little time I have to make something genuine in my painting.
Each painting or collection is drawn from a bible verse or testimonies shared with me. Mostly with bright, cold-toned colours that help to make my art a healing opportunity for people and that enlightens my collectors' hearts.
5. On your website, we learn that you offered workshops in the past. Do you plan on organizing one in the area one day?
Yes! It's definitely in my plan. In the past few years, I had the honour to host workshops in person and online with Marianopolis College, Montreal. I would very much like to organize workshops in our area. That is one of the reasons why I am working on my French. A little goal I set for myself is within a year. :)
Thank you for your answers!
